40 Man Black Sox Training Squad Named

Golden Homes Black Sox Head Coach Mark Sorenson has named his first squad to commence the 2021 campaign.

The squad will initially take part in regional fitness testing in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch during January. A team will be named following the Open Club Nationals in March.

“This is a Foundation Squad to start what will possibly be the shortest World Cup campaign ever. We will name the team for the World Cup in less than 12 months and the event will be on us in 14 months.” Sorenson say’s.

“There’s a strong emphasis on youth in the squad and it’s going to be exciting for us to work with the next generation coming through, plus the other returnees that will have the benefit of experience in their court.

The Softball world has shown us that our standard this year was no longer good enough, so we all need to be better.

There’s no better time for this group to start working than now, as we are looking for the final team selected to be the fastest and fittest than ever before.” Say’s Sorenson.
